2007-10-17 [Duke Devlin]: to [The Monochrome Rainbow], I see =)
Cute lil baby snakeys ^^ , but yeh, where is the sixth? =O

2007-10-17 [Nyaah*]: haha already at her new maaaaamma! ^^

2007-10-17 [Duke Devlin]: Ooo I see ^^

2007-10-17 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: awww. i was drooling at the reptile show over all the balls. [Nyaah*] have you seen the new "Chocolate balls?" super cinnamon pastels? they look like melted tootsie rolls.

2007-10-18 [Nyaah*]: oh yea i love them! when i got the money for my first pastel offspring i will probably get a couple of cinnamons, or albinos! :> though...that might be 2009.. im not sure if my pastel male is already ready to go this year..

2007-10-19 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: how much do those pastels go for?

2007-10-19 [Nyaah*]: between 400 and 800€..depens on the year and the other offerings, and of course the intenseness of the colours..

2007-10-28 [Nyaah*]: guess what.. i made a reservation for an albino female from 2007. i´ll probably get her next week. i cant really belive it right now... i think i wont until i hold her in my hands <img:stuff/mood14-gif.gif>

2007-10-28 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: wow! i'm really wishing for an axanthic, i think they are the most beautiful morph.

2007-11-03 [Nyaah*]: <img300*0:http://elftown.eu/stuff/pools_kopf.jpg> :DDDDDDDDDDDD "pools"

2007-11-03 [Duke Devlin]: Awwwhhh ;.;

2007-11-05 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: i want one!

2007-11-12 [Lady Wolf 07]: awww. cute.

2008-01-09 [Talkris]: May I put up pics of my baby too? I'm surprised it took me this long to find this wiki, heh.

2008-01-09 [Duke Devlin]: Just put them in a wiki ^^ And send the link to [Nyaah*] =O :D

2008-01-09 [Talkris]: Cool, thanks ^^

2008-01-09 [Nyaah*]: welcome [Talkris]!! YAY do we get new pics?? :D

2008-01-09 [Nyaah*]:

we have a NEW photopage up!!! >>Talkris' Cali King!

2008-01-19 [Nyaah*]: today i saw the first time a combatdance of two of my male ballpythons! it looked quite violent and it was really loud when they pushed eachother onto the walls! i made a video (bad quality) but you can see the most important thing :) see >>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGKvWlwXfhU

2008-01-19 [Talkris]: Cool

2008-01-20 [Dwarf Ronin]: <img:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/31574_1200537932.jpg> He is getting so big...This is Jimbo

2008-01-20 [Lady Wolf 07]: wow.

2008-01-20 [Nyaah*]: nice pastel!!

2008-01-23 [Lady Wolf 07]: ill probably put up the pic with me and the corn snake pretty soon.. i was so excited.. lol

2008-01-23 [Duke Devlin]: Oooo ^^

2008-01-25 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: i don't seem to have much luck with boas. My newest (Vlad) stopped eating, and he's really young, only a few months old.

2008-01-26 [Duke Devlin]: =( That sucks, I'm sorry to hear that, and I hope Vlad starts eating again soon. =(

2008-01-27 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: he's showing interest, just not eating. While i was on vacation, he tried to squeeze into places in his tank he doesn't really fit in, and scuffed his head, and it started scabbing and swelling. It might have something to do with his lack of appetite.

2008-01-27 [Duke Devlin]: Sounds likely, maybe he just feels unwell at the moment or something. I don't know. ><

2008-01-29 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: i did finally get him to eat today. And his head swelling is going down. thankfully. I was really beginning to worry, he's a little young to be going on month-long-fasting cycles.

2008-01-29 [Duke Devlin]: True, true. >< Well I am glad to hear it. :)

2008-01-30 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: me too, i was paranoid snake-mommy. i don't worry so much when my adult balls do it, because I'm used to it from them. but Vlad is only a few months old.

2008-02-06 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: Caught my balls having some fun, so I might be expecting some eggs myself soon.

2008-02-06 [Nyaah*]: YAY how cool! got an incubator?

2008-02-06 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: working on a homemade one, i started it when i put them in the same tank, just got the vermiculite ordered, already have the bin, and temp/humidity gauges. I'm going to get it running and ready before the eggs come (if indeed there are any). I have the heater, how warm should they be incubated at? i read somewhere that they need 89 degrees Fahrenheit (31.6 Centigrade). is that about right?

2008-02-08 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: got the incubator on it's trial runs. It maintains it's temperature at 89F perfectly! About how long after breeding does the pre-lay shed occur, and does the snake go through an opaque phase as with normal shedding?

2008-02-08 [Nyaah*]: you can not be sure if shes pregnant untill you see an definitely ovulation, which isnt always visible.
if you think she had ovulation its still not really possible to say how long it takes. from the pre-lay shed (which guess!! isnt really noticeable if it really IS the pre-lay shed or just a normal shedding..) it takes about 20 days untill the eggs come! ^^

2008-02-08 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: well, she was definitely thick in the back end recently, and still is, despite that she doesn't eat very much. She isn't due to shed anytime soon, so if she did shed, I'd tend to think it was her pre-lay, because she only sheds about every three-four months now, and her most recent shed was about two weeks ago.

2008-02-08 [Nyaah*]: well its always good to be ready anytime if you guess something!

2008-02-09 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: yeah, I'd hate to be caught by surprise about something like that. If she is pregnant, should she be placed in her own tank when it's close to laying time? or would the father snake leave her alone?

2008-02-09 [Nyaah*]: no, she´ll definatly need her own place, already now if you guess shes pregnant! she needs alot of rest!! you should seperat her as soon as possible!

2008-02-09 [Nyaah*]: and WE ALL WANNA SEE PHOTOOOOOOOOOOOOOSSSS!!! :O :O how does she look like right now? i uploaded pics of my python lady at clutch in 2008, looks good for me, but as i said.. theres nothing sure untill there are eggs ;D

2008-02-10 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: ok, separation shall commence. She has been very... exceptionally lazy, She turns her nose up at food, and hardly moves more than she needs to.

2008-02-10 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: This pic is less than a month old. Sinthia (Prospective mom) is opaque in this pic, and the other ball is the prospective father, Adrian. He looks like on of those high-gold morphs next to her.
<img200*0:http://elftown.eu/img/photo/50419_1202615190.jpg>

2008-02-10 [Nyaah*]: well that might be a good sign!! your Adrian might be a high contrast like my adult female Zerto?! >> <img100*0:http://nyaah.ny.funpic.de/zerto_bild.jpg>
and you absolutly need a "Monochrome Rainbow ballpython breed" page when you get eggs!!! :D

2008-02-10 [Nyaah*]: how does his belly looks btw? all white? can you make a pic? the belly can tell alot about the gens!

2008-02-11 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: I'll get a picture as soon as i can find the camera.

2008-02-11 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: aha! I think it's a pretty normal belly.
<img200*0:http://elftown.eu/img/photo/50419_1202747006.jpg>

2008-02-11 [Nyaah*]: hmm.. still, alot of white!

2008-02-13 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: I wondered... he's got a very nice gold color to him that many balls just don't have.

2008-02-14 [Nyaah*]: remember this little cutie 2 years ago?
<img200*0:http://elftown.eu/stuff/2baby_auf_hand.jpg>

now look what i saw today>>
<img400*0:stuff/aphel_paarung.jpg>

they grow so quick
<img:stuff/br22-gif.gif>

2008-02-14 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: wow, has it already been two years?

2008-02-14 [Nyaah*]: well, september 2006...time runs..huh

2008-02-24 [The Monochrome Rainbow]:
<img200*0:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/50419_1203828303.jpg>_<img200*0:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/50419_1203828124.jpg>
Left is Sinthia just before being housed with our male. Right is her as of an hour ago. she looks rather chunky, but I don't have a pre-lay shed yet.

2008-02-24 [Nyaah*]: we will aaaaaaaall have to wait :(( im so excited already!!! im so wishing for pastel babies!!!! <img:stuff/sa-gif.gif>

2008-02-24 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: yeah, but waiting is overrated. Instant gratification is so much better. I'm just impatient.

2008-04-25 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: Having problems getting my young boa to eat. he's eaten before, and was a good eater, but lately, he's been really finicky, and hasn't taken food in a month. I wouldn't be too worried if he was an older bigger snake, but he's still hatchling sized. I'm wondering how long I should wait before I attempt to force him?

2008-04-25 [Nyaah*]: hmm.. first i would try diffrent food, dead, live, mice, rats, feeding at night or day and those kinda things..done any of that? i also heared giving the snake a warm bath for some minutes and feeding right after often works!

2008-04-25 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: I've tried live, dead, stunned, thawed, everything. different colors. I've soaked him, and misted him, and kept his tank warm. he's acting perfectly healthy. just not eating. I'm trying solitary confinement next.

2008-06-01 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: I HAVE EGGS!

2008-06-01 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: <img200*0:http://elftown.eu/img/photo/50419_1212286854.jpg>
Not sure all of them are good. the one on the top doesn't look very promising. and it is her first clutch. Have them moved into a container with vermiculite and a little water, keeping temp at 89 Fahrenheit. All six eggs have veins in them, i already candled them. They were however, already stuck quite firmly together.

2008-06-01 [Nyaah*]: OH WOW!!!!!!!!!! YOU HAVE EGGS!!!!!!!! they do look fine, just leave them like this and at 87°F, 89 might be to much! and very important is an high humidity, like 80-90%! if they start looking sunken you can put wet kitchen paper right on them!!

amazing! 6 eggs on her first clutch! thats alot!

2008-06-01 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: everything i read said about 89 degrees, but it has been wavering between 85 and 91. lots of humidity in there, though so that shouldn't be a problem.

2008-06-02 [Nyaah*]: oh thats so cool!! aaah im so excited!!!! :D want to see many pics please!!!!

2008-06-03 [The Monochrome Rainbow]:
<img200*0:http://elftown.eu/img/photo/50419_1212286812.jpg>
This is how I found her when I came home from work that night. Suspecting good news, i took the pic before i disturbed her to confirm it.

2008-06-03 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: OK! got the rest of the pics (for now!) in a new wiki Sins eggs The dad was that one we suspected might be a high gold. He sure is pretty!

2008-07-20 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: Got another snake today (This one unplanned) Went to a reptile show, not intending to buy anything, until I saw a Brazilian Rainbow Boa for an very low price. It was the last day of the show, and many of the vendors were willing to lower the price. I got him for $90!

2008-07-25 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: Hatching! One egg only made it to term. But one is better than none.
<img200*0:http://elftown.eu/img/photo/50419_1217011702.jpg>.<img200*0:http://elftown.eu/img/photo/50419_1217011612.jpg>

2008-07-26 [Talkris]: Aww! Baby! So cute *pinches its cheeks*

2008-07-28 [Nyaah*]: YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BABYYYYYYYYYY!!!! thats so cool!!!!!! happy birthday little snake :D congratulation!

2008-08-16 [Nyaah*]: FINALY!!!!!!!! 5 normal eggs and one tiny one
<img400*0:http://img120.imageshack.us/img120/6576/zertoeier1yl9.jpg>
<img400*0:http://img209.imageshack.us/img209/174/zertoeier2ro0.jpg>
<img400*0:http://img377.imageshack.us/img377/5104/eierlinealkm2.jpg>

2008-08-16 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: wonder what will come of the tiny one? think it'll hatch anything?

2008-08-16 [Nyaah*]: im not sure.. i asked some other german breeders..most of them say i should keep it in the incubator and just wait.. one of them hat an tiny egg even smaller than this and there were a reaaaaly tiny baby snake hatching...>>
<img300*0:http://www.shop1.ms-reptilien.de/images/images_extra/3/500x/miniegg2.jpg>
<img300*0:http://www.shop1.ms-reptilien.de/images/images_extra/2/500x/dwarf1.jpg>

2008-08-17 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: oh, wow! I can't wait to see.

2008-08-18 [Talkris]: Aww tiny baby

2008-08-22 [Nyaah*]: the tiny egg was a wax egg unfortunately :( 5 eggs left and those look good!
<img300*0:http://img398.imageshack.us/img398/4796/gelege5ns6.jpg>  <img100*0:http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/8863/eierleuchtenqh6.jpg>

ewww.....
<img100*0:http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/9918/wachseist8.jpg>

2008-08-22 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: bummer. it woulda been a really tiny snake if it had been a good egg.

2008-08-23 [Nyaah*]: yea...shame... :(

2008-08-23 [Sauron]: What does it mean "wax egg"?

2008-08-23 [Nyaah*]: its an egg thats unfertilised!

2008-08-23 [Sauron]: OHHHHH!!!!! Something to throw at kids outside, goody!!!

2008-08-24 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: I have heard them referred to as "slugs"

2008-08-24 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: found an interesting piece of trivia concerning snakes. (One member of my family is always harassing me about how dangerous my snakes are, so I did some research.)

Of the ten snake-caused deaths in the US each year, all are envenomations. Domestic dogs, man's best friend kill 46 people a year. There are no recorded deaths from constrictors in the US.

2008-08-24 [Nyaah*]: yea slugs is more common!
oh yea... humans.. thats one absurd oddment of christian spine-chillers. they disparaged snakes because all kind of religions before deemd them divinities and they couldnt handle this, so they demonised them.
if i tell anyone i have snakes and they ask what kind of and i say "ballpython" they only hear "PYTHON" and shout "WHAT?! PYTHONS?? they get 7 meters long and eat our children!!!" stupid bugger...

2008-08-24 [Sauron]: "Trust me ma'am, the only one who might eat your children is me!" :P

2008-08-24 [Nyaah*]: muahahah

2008-08-25 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: I think that the Hindu, and a handful of other cultures still revere snakes, but most of the western world has misguided phobias, mostly due to religion. The whole Adam and Eve in the garden, and the snake story.

Snakes do not eat dirt though anyways, so it must have been an earthworm.

yeah, my grandma once referred to my ball python as a man-eating monster. I just laughed. She always asks me if I am afraid she'll strangle me in my sleep. My usual reply is somewhere along the lines of: "Aren't you afraid your birds are going to peck your eyes out while you sleep?"

2008-08-25 [Nyaah*]: HAHAHAH yea thats a good one! the first thing most of the afraid-typ people say "i couldnt sleep in an house with a snake, i would be afraid it comes into my bed at night.." that stupid "night" fear of snakes... were are we? in the australian outback, sleeping on the ground?? and even THEN you shouldnt be afraid since the snake would only come to you because you are so nicely warm :)

2008-08-25 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: yeah, that and they live in a cage with locks on it. I won't deny she's escaped twice, but both times, it was because somebody forgot to lock it correctly, and once, yes, she did come into my bed, because the house was freezing. I had an electric blanket, she needed heat. She didn't strangle me, just curled up on top of me under the blanket and warmed up.

2008-08-26 [Nyaah*]: haha yea.. how often did mine escape when i first got them years ago haha! always found them on the radiator :P the poor things!

2008-08-26 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: thankfully, they never seem to get very far.

2008-09-19 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: Got your boa yet? ever figure out which subspecies the brown/yellow one was?

2008-09-19 [Nyaah*]: not yet <img:44166_1164145262.gif> we have some shipping problems..
the brown one is named epicrates cenchria maurus, she stays a little smaller. looks alike with the red one as baby, but as adlts they look like that:
<img300*0:http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/a2/EpicratesCenchriaMaurus.jpg>

2008-09-19 [Nyaah*]: and then there is epicrates cenchria crassus, she looks like that:
<img:http://www.diagnostico.org.br/especies/especie.2007-01-18.6144941240/foto2_photo>

2008-09-19 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: I hate shipping problems. *crosses fingers*

2008-09-19 [Nyaah*]: also it beginns to become winter now. its already pretty cool at night.. so it must work the next days orelse i need to wait untill next summer or something <img:stuff/mood1-gif.gif> wtf!?

2008-09-19 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: that sucks! Cause when you get it, it won't be a tiny little baby if you have to wait till spring/summer. That's the only nice thing about where I live, they do reptile shows 3-4 times a year here. If I want another reptile, I usually just wait for the next show. Gives me time to get a cage ready for the creature in question.

2008-09-19 [Nyaah*]: there are several shows in germany, but most in the south.. some hours by car away, an its already expensive to get there.. then you have to pay admission... :/ so i pay much more as if i get it shipped here..

2008-09-21 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: wow. I live within an hours drive of most of the shows here, so it's much easier for me to just go to those, even with the admission.

2008-09-21 [Nyaah*]: yeah.. lucky you! in berlin most reptiles, especially most snakes arent really allowed.. you actually need permission to keep them BEFORE you get them.. i moved here, took all my snakes with me and told nobody <img:stuff/dand-gif.gif>
i think thats why here are no big shows..

2008-09-22 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: lol, that's odd. Why do people need to have permission for snakes? because of ingrained cultural phobias... Sad, sad world.

2008-09-22 [Nyaah*]: yea dont ask..

2008-11-24 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: anybody know anything about breeding children's pythons? we are trying to do it at work, and nobody has bred them before. Done the ball python thing, and i'm wondering how many similarities there are.

2008-11-30 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: wow. should be pretty simple then.

2008-12-01 [Nyaah*]: sounds like it! :D

2008-12-27 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: I found a pretty cool place online for herp lovers. www.herpcenter.com awesome helpful forums.

2008-12-28 [Talkris]: Not snake related, but my female emerald swift gave birth today. Two died, but one is active and doing well as of now.

2008-12-29 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: Ooh! got pics?

2009-01-02 [Talkris]: Yup, I want to post pics of all my kids on my snake's page.

2009-02-05 [Cam Static]: Hello, you're welcome to put up my new reptile/snake gallery up, it's at My reptile park :)

2009-02-06 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: I just updated mine too - new pics!Juni's Herpetarium

I looked in on yours, [Cam Static] beautiful!

2009-02-08 [Cam Static]: Thanks a lot! :) it will be updated as soon as I have the time, I'm drowning in pictures.. :p

2009-03-03 [Nyaah*]:

all new :) tell me how you like it!!!

2009-03-05 [Cam Static]: Awesomeness, Nyaah! ;)

2009-03-06 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: Much shorter and simpler to navigate

2009-03-09 [Nyaah*]: thank you, i thougt so too! :)

2009-04-20 [Talkris]: www.nohr669.com If you're in the US this affects you and your herps! Please pass on the website and write your congress rep!

2009-04-21 [Nyaah*]: yes, i´ve already heard of this, its ridiculous..

2009-04-22 [Talkris]: Yeah

2009-04-22 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: i wrote my angry letter already. and that isn't just for herps. Its for ALL non-native species (which includes all parrots and finches commonly kept as pets, all aquarium fish, all rodents kept as pets, and most amphibians. EVERY species, from EVERY class of animals.)

2009-04-23 [Talkris]: I know, but I figure this is a snake wiki, so I would mention them specifically. Its up today. We'll see how it ends up.

2009-04-24 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: i hope it gets shot down into flaming bits.

2009-04-24 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: Just heard today - HR669 got shot down!

2009-04-24 [Nyaah*]: not finaly i think...!?

2009-04-25 [Talkris]: WOOT!

2009-04-25 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: No, it will be back, I'm sure, but it needs some work before it will ever pass.

2009-04-26 [Talkris]: I know. BUt maybe it will actually be written in a way that it would actually do some good instead of just fucking everyone over.

2009-04-27 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: I hope so. the difficult part is finding a way to separate the responsible owners from the irresponsible ones who caused this problem - without penalizing those of us who actually care. I would fight tooth and nail to keep my snakes - I don't want someone losing my rights for my by being a jackass and letting theirs go in the everglades.

2009-04-27 [Nyaah*]: we have such discussions in germany from time to time, and the handeling about keeping snakes for example is diffrent in every federal state. berlin (where i currently live) does allow snakes, but you have to apply permission first, and an ignoramus vet who knows a shit about keeping snakes has to come over from time to time and can enjoin every little shit on you. so i didnt tell anyone.. in some states snakes (especially those which are perilous to humans including all "pythons"-what shows that even this ban is made from idiots...) are simply illigal.

to ban nonnative animals should include humans too.

2009-04-27 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: Yeah, here you only have to get a permit to own large snakes or venomous ones - and that is not very strictly enforced.

2009-04-28 [Talkris]: It not enforced at all. There was a guy walking around the rep show last year with a viper in a tupperware trying to sell it.

Chickens and cows aren't native either.

2009-04-28 [Nyaah*]: ..exaclty! how many animals are REALLY native?

2009-04-28 [Talkris]: Not many. Well we can all get squirrels..... Because most US reptiles are endangered or threatened so they can't be pets. Maybe I'll catch a squirrel. I'll name him numb nuts.

2009-04-29 [Nyaah*]: hehe

2009-04-29 [Sauron]: Wait [Talkris]. you mean you can't have lizards and snakes (for example) as pets in the US?!

2009-04-29 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: yes, you CAN have lizards, etc as pets currently, but they recently reviewed a bill that would ban all species that are not native (not just reptiles, but birds and fish would also have been banned if this had passed). Thankfully, about 49,000 concerned citizens wrote letters opposing it, so it was not passed.

2009-04-30 [Talkris]: You forgot small pets, like ferrets and gerbils and hamsters.

But yes, they tried to pass a bill that would ban them like stated above. I'm sure they'll try again too. That's how this government works. They just keep putting it up until people are tired of hearing about it. Then, it gets passed.

2009-04-30 [Nyaah*]: ..and almost all pet fish..and birds...

2009-05-01 [Sauron]: Sounds like some crazy senator tries to find an original way not to buy his kids any pet O_o

2009-05-01 [Nyaah*]: hahah yes.."no children, hamster are illegal!"

2009-05-01 [Sauron]: lol!

2009-05-02 [Talkris]: It was actually put forth by those crazy animal rights people. But what they don't realize is that without the pet trade ferrets and golden frogs would be extinct. As well as a few others that I can't remember off hand.

2009-05-03 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: Chinchillas already are extinct in the wild, though they thrive outside the pet trade - they are farmed for their fur.

It was worry over invasive species, though I daresay, banning pythons will not get rid of the ones already in the everglades. (or any other animal anywhere else).

They also fail to consider, that many of the animals have already been established here for years (decades in many cases, even centuries!) and caused no problems.

Many of the exotics the bill hoped to ban come from tropical countries, and would not be able to thrive in the harsh climates of Northern USA. Therefore, a federal ban is drastic overkill. I think that any legislation of that nature should be on a state level. Yes, Pythons are a problem here in Florida, along with many other species, but I doubt Washington or Michigan are having the same problems... So let Florida work out it's own problems.

2009-05-04 [Talkris]: Agreed.

2009-05-11 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: I know they aren't snakes, but I need to show them off anyways. Went to the herp show on my birthday yesterday... 2 new additions here: Juni's Herpetarium

2009-05-11 [Nyaah*]: AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!!!!!! a Pac Man!!!!!!!!!!!! :O so cool!

2009-08-13 [Nyaah*]: im about to get something new.. everything changes :)

2009-08-13 [Duke Devlin]: Omfg... We just got a new snakey. :) <3 We now have three, and we're getting two more in a few weeks. ^______^ My mummy wants to breed them. :P

2009-08-14 [Nyaah*]: yay! any photos?

2009-08-14 [Nyaah*]: hopefully arriving soon: spider het albino male :))))))
<img300*0:http://elftown.eu/img/drawing/24454_1250264453.jpg>

2009-08-15 [Talkris]: Aww, cute little wiggly worm!

2009-08-15 [Nyaah*]: ..that hopefully will make some awesome albino spider wiggly worm babies! :P hahahah

2009-08-22 [Nyaah*]: Spiderling - i dont want to bother him to much so i only have a few pics :))))))))

2009-08-24 [Duke Devlin]: Not yet =3 But I'll add any as soon as we get them. ^^

2009-09-27 [Vou]: I will admit... I am afraid of snakes. :O But, I think they're beautiful creatures... I just was sheltered...

2009-09-27 [Talkris]: There's no reason to fear them. Most are completely harmless.

2009-09-27 [Vou]: Well, for starters, my mother is deathly afraid of them - at 6-years-old, a snake around 6 foot made attempts to have her for a midnight snack. So, she was nearly killed by one. And ever since I've been around her, she kept me away from them coz she wouldn't be around them. It wasn't until 2 years ago (she's 37 now) that she could look at a picture of a snake and not shake uncontrollably. She's come a long way.

But, I do know that most are harmless and will only attack if threatened or provoked - I understand that. However, it's something I'm working on to get my brain to understand that, but it's still that small fear that something could happen knaws at the back of my thought-processes. I also hate the feel of their skin on mine. Always have. D:

2009-09-28 [Talkris]: Its their skin that I love most. My snake does this cute little shimmy when he slithers, its adorable.

2009-09-28 [Vou]: Awh. See, I can be around them so long as I *know* they're enclosed in cages. My boyfriend is making attempts to help me with my fear, so that I can get comfortable around Jack and Eisenhower... his brother's snakes. One tries to escape alot and the other (Eisenhower) gets grumpy and is a good six feet. O_O;

2009-09-28 [Talkris]: Heh, yeah grumpy snakes are silly. Here's a trick though, just in case you ever do get bitten, dab him on the nose with rubbing alcohol. They let go instantly.

2009-09-28 [Cam Static]: Didn't they test the alcohol trick on SnakeBytes, and it didn't work?

2009-09-29 [Talkris]: *shrug* That's how I used to get them of of me.
My snake also avoids me if I just painted my nails. He hates all those smells.

2009-09-29 [Nyaah*]: but i think from a quick bite only experience and attention can save you <img:stuff/mood14-gif.gif>

2009-09-29 [Talkris]: Well yeah, there's that too ^_^

2009-09-29 [Vou]: Neither have ever bitten them so. . . yeah. XD

2009-09-29 [Talkris]: That's a good thing. Some species are more bitey then others. I have a king and when he was little he used to try and bite me, but then he got used to me now he's a mush. I can squish his head and he doesn't care. Its really funny.

2009-09-30 [Vou]: oh my XD

2009-09-30 [Talkris]: Head squishies!

2009-10-02 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: My milk (Milks and Kings are closely related) was also nippy when he was young, but all of our snakes are no longer head-shy.

2009-10-02 [Talkris]: You just have to handle them everyday. And get bit when they're little, because their teeth are so small they don't puncture the skin. Its cute because they pretty much just drool on you until they let go.

2009-11-08 [Nyaah*]: love is in the air.. arent they a nice couple?
<img200*0:http://i34.tinypic.com/909dhg.jpg> <img200*0:http://i37.tinypic.com/nbrpd5.jpg> <img200*0:http://elftown.eu/img/photo/24454_1257716015.jpg>

2009-11-08 [Talkris]: Aww, how adorable. *warm squishy feelings*

2009-11-16 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: You'll send me a baby right?

2009-11-19 [Duke Devlin]: Awhhhh. :)

2009-12-14 [Nyaah*]: still haveing action
<img200*0:stuff/aj/24454/1260812592.jpg>

2009-12-14 [Duke Devlin]: Awhh it's so cute. :P I can't wait until we can breed ours. :) We have two lil' ladies who are just heavy/old enough for it, now we just need our males to grow. :P Haha

2010-01-27 [moira hawthorne]: I hope that people here may take a moment to look into this... if they love snakes - http://talkris.deviantart.com/journal/29933489/

2010-01-27 [Talkris]: Hey guys, if you live in the US I definitely recommend reading my journal either on here or on dev art (Moira Hawthorne posted the link above). Yet another snake ban is up in congress, this one includes 9 species of boa and python. Its pretty horrible because if it passes you won't be able to move from state to state, even in an evacuation, with your animals. If you're going to college out of state, getting stationed out of state, your vet is out of state, you won't be able to take your boa or python and, if moving, you will have to euthanize them. If you go to Natpet.org there are many steps you can take to voice your opinion and get in touch with your local congressmen as well as up to date information.

~Talkris

2010-01-28 [Nyaah*]: this is so stupid.. what kind of an asshole made this up?? germany starts to bitch around with reptiles too already... and those who make up those bans usually have NO IDEA of what they talk about.. they dont even know the diffrents between a ballpython and a tiger python, its simply PYTHON and those are evil as we all know!! read the bibel, you´ll see! medieval hillbillies.. <img:img/mood/10305_1126060737.gif>

2010-01-29 [Talkris]: It was made by two Florida congressmen because of the problem in the everglades with the Burmese pythons. However, the problem is Florida has no regulatory system involving reptiles. You can buy, sell, breed and keep whatever you like, be it python, boa or even a cobra. In NY we have all kinds of regulations about specific species you can and can not keep, sell, breed or buy.

Also, the other problem is that they did not go through any scientific survey or the fish and wildlife service like they are supposed to by law.

2010-02-01 [Cam Static]: that's actually not completely true, Talkris, they have regulations in Florida. You actually have to send in a form to the government, to prove that you're fit to own big snakes and venom.
If you dont have the rights to keep any of the snakes you need a approvement for, the government can and will take your snake away from you.

2010-02-01 [Talkris]: Last I had hear they didn't enforce anything there. I stand corrected.

2010-02-22 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: I live in Florida, and work at a Zoo, and our own herpetologist was involved in the surveys in the everglades to establish exactly how bad the python problem is getting. His own words: "The survey was skewed - there are not tens of thousands of pythons out there. 1,500 maybe."

Pythons have not infected the entirety of the Glades yet. Thy are known to be in one part of it, and that is where they did the sampling, and applied their findings there to the whole of the park. Even the park rangers have said they would notice 100,000 pythons creeping around. That would outnumber the native Gators.... and that is far from happening.

The media is making a mountain out of a molehill. As it is, Florida should not be pushing laws on the rest of the states for what is a local problem. The species we have are tropical, and cannot spread far. It's our problem, we need to grow up and deal with it. (I'm not a native, and do not think highly of the natives.... They irk me to no end.)

You need a permit in Florida to own the following:

Reptiles of Concern (Which includes the giant pythons: Scrub/amethystine, burmese, african rock, reticulated, etc, as well as anacondas, and nile monitors.)

Venomous snakes (and the hoops you have to jump through to get this permit are beyond ridiculous, considering it applies to everything but the Hognose, regardless of toxicity)

Reptiles that are Native to the U.S. AND are a protected species.

Anything else goes, but there is very little enforcement. Sellers are not required to verify the capabilities/permits of their buyers... and there is always black market trade.

2010-02-22 [moira hawthorne]: quote: The media is making a mountain out of a molehill.
anit that ALWAYS the case!

2010-06-14 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: New addition to my scaly family!

<img400*0:http://elftown.eu/stuff/xOPuizx.jpg>

2010-06-26 [Nyaah*]: beautiful one!!!

2010-08-14 [Talos Cyrion]: sweet i have one like him. A jungle carpet python and he's roughly six months old now....and a total porker lol he's almost five feet long

2010-09-13 [The Monochrome Rainbow]: This one was a secondhand snake, so he came to me underweight, a little small, and with MITES. Once the mites are gone, I'll be beefing him up.

2010-09-13 [Talos Cyrion]: mine died....i'm virtually certain it was from a disease in the cage my friend was keeping him in....me sad

2010-09-23 [Nyaah*]: new adition to my python family :) cinnamon het. albino male from this year!
